Opening weekends, holiday dates and late-season hunts book up first. We recommend reserving waterfowl dates in the summer before the season and alligator hunts by spring, since the alligator season only runs three weeks.
Duck, Goose & Teal Hunting
When is duck season in Texas?
On the Upper Texas Coast, duck season opens on the first full weekend in November and runs through late January. Goose season runs November through February. Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPWD) sets the exact dates each year. Check our hunting seasons page for current dates.
Where do your waterfowl hunts take place?
We hunt the Upper Texas Coastal Prairie near Anahuac, on properties next to the Anahuac and McFaddin National Wildlife Refuges. This rice, marsh and prairie country sits at the end of the Central Flyway and holds huge numbers of wintering ducks and geese. Learn more about our guided waterfowl hunts.
What ducks and geese will we hunt?
Typical species include teal, pintail, gadwall, wigeon, shovelers, mottled ducks and mallards. Goose hunts target snow, blue and white-fronted (specklebelly) geese.
What's included in a guided duck hunt?
Every waterfowl hunt includes an experienced guide, pre-scouted blinds, a premium decoy spread, and transportation to and from the blind.
How many ducks can I expect to harvest?
Most two-day waterfowl hunts fill the daily limit, which is usually six ducks per hunter per day. Results depend on weather, migration and shooting, so no outfitter can guarantee a limit.
When is early teal season in Texas?
Texas early teal season runs in September, before the regular duck season. We offer morning and afternoon teal hunts for blue-winged teal over flooded rice fields and marsh. Expect highs in the upper 90s. See our early teal hunts.
Can I bring my own retriever?
Yes. Well-trained, vaccinated retrievers are welcome. We don’t provide an extra handler, so you’ll manage your own dog in the blind.
Do you offer dove hunts?
Yes. Dove hunts run from September through January and cost $175 per hunter. They pair well with an early teal or alligator trip in September.
Alligator Hunting
When is alligator season in Texas?
In Texas’s core alligator counties, which include our area of Chambers County, the season runs September 10 through September 30. With only three weeks of hunting, dates sell out quickly. Plan your Texas alligator hunt.
What license do I need to hunt alligators in Texas?
You only need a valid Texas hunting license. Non-residents need a non-resident Texas hunting license. Fin & Fowl Outfitters provides the alligator harvest tag, so you don’t have to apply for one yourself.
How much does a guided alligator hunt cost?
Guided alligator hunts are $1,250 per alligator. That includes your guide, equipment, the harvest tag and tagging that meets TPWD rules.
How many alligators can I harvest?
You may take one alligator for each tag issued to you. Talk to us about multiple tags if your group wants more than one gator per hunter.
What happens to my alligator after the hunt?
We tag every alligator to TPWD standards and can arrange meat processing and taxidermy, whether you want a full mount, a skull or a hide.
Is there a minimum age for alligator hunting?
Texas doesn’t set a minimum age, but we recommend hunters be at least 10 years old. Young hunters must meet Texas hunter education and licensing rules.
Hog Hunting
Can you hunt hogs year-round in Texas?
Yes. Feral hogs have no closed season and no bag limit in Texas, so we run guided hog hunts all year. See our Texas hog hunting trips.
Do I need a license to hunt hogs in Texas?
You need a valid Texas hunting license. No special tag or stamp is required for feral hogs.
What hog hunting methods do you offer?
We offer spot-and-stalk hunts, hunts with trained dogs, and night hunts using night vision and thermal optics with suppressed firearms.
How many hogs can I expect to take?
Our hunters average 1–3 hogs per hunter per day on thousands of acres of private coastal brushland, prairie and marsh.
Can I bring my own rifle, or do you provide one?
You’re welcome to bring your own firearm and ammunition. We can also provide firearms, blinds and thermal scopes on request.
